…should you be so inclined:
1. For goodness sake don’t work too hard…your garden will always look lovely as long as you are having a lovely time IN it.
2. Mow the lawn (yawn)
2. Plant summer-flowering bulbs, corms and tubers (dahlias, acidanthera, gladioli…the list is endless)
3. Become a regular hoe-er and nuke little weedlings before they take hold. Buy yourself a nice sexy hand-hoe and a cushion so you can get properly intimate with them
4. Sow salad leaves in any spare patches of ground or in pots
All good things, always,

Great to see a what to do list….can we always have one of those please?
Yes of course Celia…there’ll be one every month…but please understand that these jobs are only to be done AFTER you’ve had a lovely hot bath, done your nails, gone shopping, and eaten loads of cake x
Laetitia, I am about to get some salad seeds to sow tommorrow for my window boxes. Are there any type you would especially recommend for very good flavour? Some are very attractive but lack zing in the salad bowl. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
Honestly, i’m no connoisseur, but I truly believe that it matters not one jot what type of leaf you grow…anything you grow yourself will be delicious. Personally, I always grow mixed leaves, which give me a wide variety of flavours…you can get them in special packets at the garden centre…Enjoy, and let us know how you get on!
How curious! Have had it in mind for few days to blog re only three tools have to have – one of which is a sexy little hand hoe!
Feel you have stolen my thunder somewhat!
Best Wishes
Robert
oh Robert i could NEVER steal your thunder! – I want to hear about your sexy little hand hoe (and all the more so because I own and love one……I GET the hand-hoe thing)….and anyway, I want to know about the other two must-have tools….please?

My favourite is mache (lamb’s lettuce) for its soft, slightly creamy flavour – but it’s very much a personal thing. My recommendation would be to get a mixture, which you can buy in packets… then you can try all the different leaves and concentrate on your favourite next time. thanks for visiting, and good luck with your leaves and happy sowing!
