Take a deep breath and jump…..into the flowerbed.
Creating a garden is one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself and your family. You don’t need a degree in garden design to do it, but you do need a bit of commitment and a smidgin of knowledge. Gardening with PLANTS rather than spending money on hard landscaping is what I stand for, and I’m writing a book right now on the subject, which will be chock-full of seasonal tips for how to grow your own garden without getting the builders in.
Apart from messing around in my garden, planning planting schemes is my favourite thing to do in the world. I love the challenge of finding the perfect plants for a particular place, making sure there’s always something beautiful in leaf, bud or flower, and tailoring all that to a particular aesthetic.
I love the plethora of choices, working around the limitations presented by particular conditions…twiddling my hair around my fingers wondering whether ‘this’ would look better than ‘that’…but I realise that’s not everyone’s idea of a fun-packed time, so if you want a luscious garden but don’t relish the hours of agonising that goes into choosing and placing the plants then yes, I can do it for you.
The process is simple:
- We speak on the phone; I ask you lots of questions to establish your aesthetic and the kind of garden you yearn for.
- You provide me with a scale plan of your borders, aspect and soil sample.
- I give you a hand-drawn planting plan, with plant list and sourcing information if required.
- You order your plants and plant your garden… (or get someone else to do it for you)!
Prices start at £20 per square metre, and you can hire me to do a single border, or your whole garden.
